He sang as if he knew me. (from the song "Killing Me softly with his song")

If the fact that "he sang" and the fact that "it seemed that he knew me" are
mixed into one sentence,
it will be like this?
(He sang as if he had knew me.)

Am i right?

    No, it would be: "He sang as if he knew me."

    You would use the past participle only if the verb described a discrete, one-time occurrence: "He waved to me as if he had met me before."

    I hope that makes sense.
