as impenetrable as

Senior Member

I get the following sentence from a test which confuses me a lot.

"The First World War began in a context of jargon and verbal delicacy and continued in a cloud of euphemism as impenetrable as language and literature, skillfully used, could make it."

I don't understand the underlined part. I know ""structure should be parallel. But here it doesn't.

Please help me out by analyzing it in terms of part of speech.

Thank You.
