as much as

Hello!

How could I say in Russian "as much as", in the sense of, up to a maximum amount.

For example would "it costs up to $500" be "стоит до 500 долларов"?

Thank you!

    You can say " в пределах 500 долларов" or " не больше 500 долларов".

    But "as much as" and "up to", however close, are not the exact same.

    "As much as" - it is the amount (figure, quantity) that is likely to occur, whereas "up to" - anything within the range.
    These are close, I agree, and often used interchangeably.

    In Russian - "до".

    You may pay up to 500 dollars - Вьi можете заплатить до 500 долларов (пятисот долларов).

    Up to - yes, exactly. Or "до 500 долларов".

    As much as - "и", "вполне".
    Вьi можете заплатить и 500 долларов;
    Вьi вполне можете заплатить 500 долларов.

    It's a very fine difference in English, but it does exist.

    No, I agree, they're not exactly the same. I think in my example it's more a case of "within the range".

    Thank for you both for your suggestions!
