I'm trying to add the structure 'as ... as possible' to 'something you can afford.' Does [2] make sense? (The idea is to keep it as low as possible)

[1] I'm trying my hardest to make the fee something you can afford.
[2] I'm trying my hardest to make the fee as much something you can afford as possible.

No, it doesn't make sense. Just use your description: I'm trying my hardest to make the fee as low as possible.

On the other hand: I'm trying as hard as possible to make the fee affordable for you.
