    Hi green olive :)

Can you give us some sentences or examples in which you feel that they may be used similarly or otherwise?

I would actually use 'instead of' here, as you would hear it more often than 'as opposed to'.
I also wanted to say that whether a person does 20 reps (repetitions) or 6 to 8 reps, it would still be a single set. If you were to do 3 sets of 20 reps, you would do 60 total reps. If you were to do 3 sets of 8 reps, you would only do 24 reps. Neither 6 nor 20 is the 'correct number of sets'. The correct number would depend on your exercise goals, instructions, or workout plans!
