As the needle slips into the run out groove

I've been listening to Perfect Symmetry, a Keane's song, and it has the following phrase:

"As the needle slips into the run out groove"

I don't get what it means.

    If you are old enough to remember vinyl records, you will know that at the end of the recorded part (the end of the recording grooves on the disk) the groove spirals more widely until it goes into a circle, at which point the phonograph needle just travels around and around endlessly.
