    Which is correct?

    The second sounds more logical to me. The first could be improved by saying "I'm getting..."

    As time goes by, I am getting more comfortable with him.

    As time went by, I got more comfortable with him.

    Sorry to disagree, Brio, but I don't think it is incorrect to use the continuous tense in the second option. It changes the feel of the sentence (a bit less "past"), but it doesn't seem wrong.
