Aspiration when the previous word ends with s, and the next one begins with p,t,k

Do I need to use aspiration when the previous word ends with s, and the next one begins with p,t,k? For example - This time. This case, Tastes pasta.
Or do I have to use the same rule as in within the single words like spike, stand, skate? (No aspiration here)
