Colombia - Spanish
Hello, everybody.

I would like to know the meaning and possible translation to Spanish of the expression "at a remove".

I have this sentence: "Relationships are at a remove from the intimate
in terms of trust and expectation."

This is a very literate, even archaic, phrase which you will never hear in normal conversation - only in books by academicians or extremely literate novelists. It means "at a distance", "a distance away" "separate", etc. An equivalent sentence would be "Relationships are far from the intimate..."
