avoir l'âge de ses artères

Hello forum, :)

Avoir l'âge de ses artères means that one's real age is more about his/her general physical condition than about the actual number of years since one was born (see here for instance).
Is there an equivalent English idiom? To be as old as one's body doesn't sound quite right...

    The only equivalent I can think of is, "You're as old as you feel." But this elides the reference to the body.

    I think you may have to coin something.

    Maybe something like:

    It's not the mileage on the meter but the pep in the engine.
