Hi,

The sentence below is mine. I hardly ever use 'thus', so I'm a bit unsure whether I have used it in a natural way here:

According to the complaint, XYZ awarded a USD 40 million loan to the Uzbek company to help it expand the manufacturing of cotton goods, thus allowing the company to profit from forced labour and sell illicit goods.

'Thus' can mean 'consequently', so I guess it is OK in this context?

Thus is fine, but a bit of tweaking could help the rest:

According to the complaint, XYZ loaned the Uzbek company USD40 million to help it expand its cotton-goods manufacturing operation, thus enabling the company to profit from forced labour and the sale of illicit goods.
