away from - as a direction

    How would you say "away from" as a direction, for example:

    Keep the gun pointed away from people at all times.
    The footprints led away from the beach.
    He looked away from her.

    Ok thanks for your help,

    But what about something like:

    "The balcony faces away from the ocean."

    I'm really trying to get just the concept of the direction, not a concept of motion or distance. In English it would be the opposite of towards.
