away from - as a direction

    How would you say "away from" as a direction, for example:

    Keep the gun pointed away from people at all times.
    The footprints led away from the beach.
    He looked away from her.

    Cuando saques el arma no apuntes a nadie.
    Las huellas de pies se apartaban de la playa.
    Apartó la mirada de ella.

    Ok thanks for your help,

    But what about something like:

    "The balcony faces away from the ocean."

    I'm really trying to get just the concept of the direction, not a concept of motion or distance. In English it would be the opposite of towards.
