what is the awkward sentence in this paragraph and why? I think (a) ,b ut I am not sure how to change it. Can you help me ?


(a)France was hit with temperatures in the high 30s during the first three weeks of August. (b)Since the first week of the heat wave, French officials, many of whom had been on vacation, rushed back to work. (c)The death toll soared up to 3000 that week. (d)However, the government did not declare an emergency even after a week of the desert like weather pattern.

    I find (b) a lot more awkward than (a), Sun. The tenses seem quite odd ~ I'm not really sure what's going on in that sentence.

    Have a go at fixing it and we'll let you know if ... well, if it's fixed it:)
