back somebody into the corner

Hi! I'm trying to translate a passage of an speech by Huey P. Newton and he says "The nature of a panther is that he never attacks. But if anyone attacks him or backs him into the corner, the panther comes up to wipe this agressor..."

I don't understand very well. Does it mean something like "acorralar"?

    "arrinconar" : put into the corner.
    Pero si dices "acorralar", también se entiende y no pierde sentido en el contexto citado.
