    "Balling the jack" was a famous dance step and a song in the U.S. in the early 20th Century.

    The dance and song was performed in a 1980s film called "Haunted Honeymoon", starring Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner, along with Dom Delouise in drag. When I hear "Ballin' the Jack", I hear that tune in my head. The tune is probably more popular as an instrumental now. I've heard it on sports shows, as background music for funny home videos, as well as in other places.
