I am not even sure this actually exists in other countries :D but in France, we have (generally in our cheque books) a paper called "Relevé d'Identité Bancaire" (summary of bank identity), which summarizes one's banks account details. You give that paper to people or administrations, e.g. to perform bank transfers or automatic payments.

1) If such a thing exists in Germany, what is the word for it?

2) If this does not exist, how could I say in German that I need all the bank details necessary to make a money transfer from abroad?

    Hi Brigitte,

    when I was first reading your thread, I thought you were talking about "Kontoauzug", that's the document you get periodically by post to show your bank statements but now that you're saying that you would like somebody to ask for its details, I would just say:

    Würden Sie mir bitte Ihre kompletten Bankdaten geben, damit ich eine Überweisung machen kann.

    Est-ce que tu pourras nous donner le contexte afin que je le traduise littéralement en allemand ou en anglais.

    La sécurité sociale (en France) doit payer une somme à une personne qui est à l'étranger avec une banque à l'étranger. La sécurité sociale demande un Relevé d'Identité Bancaire, qui est un papier émis par la banque avec les coordonnées de la banque et du compte concerné (pour éviter tout risque d'erreur lors du transfert).

    PS : bravo pour le français !
