What Does "go 1 for 2" mean?

making 2 point with one hit?

    You will need to learn baseball to understand this! Basically it means he got one hit in two tries (i.e. one hit and one out, for the two at-bats represented by this phrase). He may have had other at-bats, but they would have ended in walks.
