Hi

I'm looking for a German equivalent to the phrase baying for blood.

The definition for it is as follows:

bay for blood
if a group of people are baying for blood, they want someone to be hurt or punished
By now the crowd was baying for blood.

What would you idiomatically say in German?

Vielen Dank fuer Ihre Hilfe :D

    Hallo,

"baying for blood" kann mit "nach Blut schreien" (ein starkes/lautes Verlangen nach blutiger Gewalt) übersetzt werden.

    Liebe Grüße,

I think, a possible idiomatic way to express it is also: "Die Menge wollte Blut sehen" which has basically the same meaning as "Die Menge schrie nach Blut" - but it is a little bit weaker.

Which fits best depends on your context. Can you give more context, please?

    Hi

Yeah the phrase is taken from the Full Monty. It refers to the women staring at the men.

There are thousands of them. Baying for blood.

However the German translation is "Tausende. Voellig abgedreht." which I would translate as totally crazy. This is essentially what is meant, when they are referring to the women screaming at the naked men, but I was just wondering if you put something like, "nach Blut schrien," would the meaning be different?

    Thanks for your help :D
