be taken <on/for> that kind of ride

    Hi, everyone. I heard this from T.V. drama called Full House.
    (Full House Season 1 Episode 2)

    My friend says "be taken on that kind of ride" doesn't make sense and that it should be" be taken for that kind of ride", because it is an idiom.

    (WR Dictionary)
    Is he correct? or be taken on that kind of ride still makes sense?
