Does "beat the door " make sense?
(I mean "knock on the door")
Many thanks in advance.
You can "beat on the door" (which is much louder than knocking on the door) or "beat the door down" (if you succeed in knocking it off its hinges.) To beat the door, though, brings to mind someone taking a whip to a door, at least to me.
Separate names with a comma.
