Hi! My friend wrote a sentence , he wanted to express that a man is going through a civil war, many things happen to him, my friend asked "What will he become like after the war?"
But I feel it sounds odd. How about "What will he turn out to be after the war"?
But I'm not sure, can you give me some advice? Thank you!

Neither are idiomatic but "What will he become like after the war?" is worse.

"How will he turn out to be after the war"? or "What will he become like after the war?"
