When assessing a level of skill at anything, such as level of Russian knowledge, people define themselves as either beginner, intermediate or advanced. I am sure there are many ways to say these levels in Russian, so how do you translate these terms?

    Beginner - начинающий.
Advanced - продвинутый (regretfully... - ugly English calque) or повышенный уровень
Intermdeiate... I'm not sure. Maybe средний уровень?
