beginning to launch into the chorus of my ringtone

Dear all,
this is from the novel by Morgan Matson Second Chance Summer.

This [the night telephone call at 2 a.m.] was surprising enough that I didn’t move for it right away, just stared at it on my dresser, lighting up the corner of the room with an unexpected brightness, beginning to launch into the chorus of my ringtone.

I guess the words in question mean her beginning to shine simultaneously with the ringtone. Is this correct? Actually I don't understand the meaning of the word launch here.
