Can we say that "I apologize for my belated answer" when we took a lot of time before we answer someone?

    I will ad that I would say: I aplolgize for my belated response. or depending on context. I apologize for my belated response to your request.( or your question or your inquiry)

    Is there any difference between "answer" and "response"? Here I'm in the context of an email correspondence about an information I asked for
