besides his job

Hello,

could you please tell if "besides" is the right choice in this sentense?
I admire how much he accomplishes besides his work.
I want to express that in addition to his regular job he gets a lot done in his free time (like building a house and a boat, caring for the garden et cetera.)

Thank you.

    Thank you very much, johngiovanni.
Would "beyond" even be a more suitable word in this context?
