Besiege a customer

Hi everyone!

I am looking for a (phrasal) verb or an expression which would translate as besiege but rather in a metaphorical way. Examples could be when, say, you are flirting persistently with a woman over a period of time trying to make her feel attracted to you. Or same situation but with a potential customer instead.

So, We've been ________ this customer for so long and finally we got it.

Thanks in advance.
