beware of rescuing

I was in a group therapy place recently, and one of the guidelines said:
"beware of rescuing."

Could someone explain that to me, please? Thank you all!

Some times when you are in the business of rescuing those you care about, you can end up enabling them to continue the habits that are perhaps ruining a family, a relationship, or their chances of growing up through going through failure.

This is just a possibility.

I think that it means that you have to help the people, not rescue them. They need to heal/recover/change themselves as it is the only way it will last.
