Dear all
Here's a headline appearing in "Newsreel XXXIII", "USA" by John Dos Passos. Could someone tell me if "Big Pool" could be a reference to Paris Peace Conference in 1919?
Time:1919
L'Ecole du Malheur Nous Rend Optimistes
Unity of Free Peoples Will Prevent any Inequitable Outcome of Peace of Paris
it is only too clear that the league of nations lies in pieces on the floor of the Hotel Crillon and the modest alliance that might with advantage occupy its place is but a vague sketch
HINTS AT BIG POOL TO DEVELOP ASIA

"Pool" might refer to a large group of entities or nations who are interested in Asia's development; it's not clear to me whether they intend to work together or are seeking separate paths; I suppose the former is likelier, given the entire phrase.

    Hi, B
It's so good to have you here again.
But, Paris Peace Conference WAS indeed a large group of nations and countries (at least in the beginning because at the end there were only 3 or 4 big powers) who intended to determine the destiny of the world, among that Asia.

I wonder if it could refer to a pool of money, i.e. a fund which various countries have contributed to with the intention of giving aid to Asia.
