Can "blockade" be used interansitively?

like :
"Black tries to blockade by bringing his bishop to d4."
(annotating a chess game where the d-file is open and White controls it.)

The word blockade can be used as a transitive verb. However, in the interest of maintaining clarity, I would phrase the sentence as:
"Black tries to block by bringing his bishop to d4." (the word bockade doesn't seem to add anything to your sentence)

or if you want to keep the idea of blockade:
"Black tries to create a blockade by bringing his bishop to d4."
