Blow up/Burst

Can we use blow up for the neaning of burst ??? :confused:

The tire blew up
The tire burst/bursted

    I would not use blew up since that makes it appear that the tire exploded in a violent way. In AE the usual term when referring to a tire is blew out. Usually one would say: I had a blow-out. We would use burst for a balloon or bubble.

    I think that you can say "the tyre burst", in BE (note spelling of tyre in BE and tire in AE) I would certainly say it.
