In the Stealing the Network - How to Own a Continent book there is a situation, where man needs his data to be destroyed when someone enters his compound without authorization. It can be either law-enforcements or some crook. Following sentence is used:

Even under ideal circumstances, there would be a boot on my face, and the drive would be pulled from the case in 20 seconds.

I would like to if boot on the face is some commonly used idiom?

Thanks a lot for answer.
