Mozilla has developed "Firefox OS". Before having that name, its codename was "Boot to Gecko" (B2G).
I know that Gecko is a type of small lizard ("salamanquesa" in Spanish), but I'd like to know the meaning of "Boot to Gecko", literally or/and figuratively.

    Mexican Spanish
Literal translation would be "arrancar con gecko"

Thanks. I think I know what this expression is about.

Gecko is just the name of the web browser engine developed by Mozilla. And it's the runtime for Firefox OS applications as well, so that's why they're using this expression for this operating system.
