I was reading a film review of a biopic of Ip Man, the kung fu teacher of Bruce Lee. And I was wondering what "boot-to-the-head" meant in the sentence:

Donnie Yen, Yu-hang To and Anthony Wong Chau-Sang have played Ip Man in a four-film series which offers a more conventional account of the boot-to-the-head grandmaster’s life...

"Boot" is an informal word for "kick." A "boot to the head" means kicking someone in the head. The phrase refers to Bruce Lee's mastery of martial arts.
