Uhm... like we say in Italian: "ce l'ho sulla punta della lingua", but I can't seem to remember this... The only thing I can come up with is: "the be on safe ground" rather than "to be on sure ground".

The thing is, I honestly can't remember if this is exactly the translation for "essere in una botte di ferro".

    Sorry

Guarda nei dizionari disponibili sul forum :)(Oxford Paravia;Repubblica; Corriere della sera) essere in una botte di ferro to *be sitting pretty, (come già indicato da Charles:))to *be on firm ground, to *be as safe as the Bank of England.

does "sentirsi in una botte di ferro" mean roughly the same thing? therefore, to feel safe/secure/assured/ to be in a safe position?

    Thanks!
