Hey guys, I'm confused about the meaning of "breathing distance from one another, taking it all in" within this quote.
"I lie down and face the sky, and Rhiannon lies down next to me and does the same. We stare at the clouds, breathing distance from one another, taking it all in."
Can you please help me out? Thank you!!

I've never heard this expression before, but "(within) breathing distance" seems to mean a short distance, perhaps that distance at which you can hear each other breathe. It's quite rare; "shouting distance" is more common, as is "a stone's throw".
