hello everyone :)

could somebody please explain the actual meaning of the phrase
"I brought him to a work thing early last week and he was weird."
(it's from the "Last night at Chateau Marmont" book by L.Weisberger)

does it mean that she made that guy work or that she took him along to work?
thanks a lot in advance :)

A work "thing" is probably an event related to one's work, but outside the normal course of your working life. For example, a Christmas party with your work colleagues could be called a "work thing". So she took him with her to a work-related event.
