Here is a phrase from a drama called Castle.

The main character who is a famous novelist says the following when he is doubted by the other main character if he is hiding from the public because his book is coming out today.

No, hiding would be building a fortress out of my comforter.

What does it mean?

    Often children build "forts" out of their sheets and blankets while playing in bed. A "comforter" is a type of thick blanket. He's saying that if he were actually hiding, he would be in bed building a fortress like a child would.
