I am trying to translate the following sentence from Italian to English. It is from an extract of the novel è stato il figlio:
"E il nonno le risponde remissivo come sempre. “Io mi metto buonobuono..”.
I am struggling to find the meaning of 'mi metto buonobuono', it doesn't seem to have a direct translation in English.
