Temoshotka claims that Nabokov's hobby to collect butterflies had a great deal of influence to the prose of Lolita and Speak Memory. The author of this passage agrees with her to some extent.

Temoshotka also claims that if Nabokov had a different hobby, then those literary works would have been completely different. The author of this passage does not agree with that because it's reaching too far.

What is reaching too far is not "lawn tennis".
But to say "the prose of Lolita and Speak Memory would not have coalesced into their current incarnations had Nabokov’s hobby been, say, lawn tennis" is simply reaching too far.
Does this coloring make it clearer?
