J'avoue que je n'avais jamais rencontré le verbe dans ce sens :
To cut off; separate or disunite: an idea that was completely divorced from reality.
=> on pourrait également dire "En déconnectant ces deux concepts", mais 'dissocier' fonctionne tout autant.
