Hi everybody,
I've run into a use of "three times" that I don't understand.

The context is film distribution.

They spent the next months getting turned down by every distributor three times. Every single one.

Passarono i mesi successivi a collezionare rifiuti da ogni distributore?????

Could someone help me?
Thanks in advance

I agree that "three times" doesn't make much sense. It's being used humorously for emphasis, as if to say they received not just one, but three letters of refusal from each distributor.
