Hi everybody! I am translating a documentary on the Underground culture in Switzerland, and I have to find an equivalent for "cabaret" in English. The word cabaret is used in switzerland and in France not only to describe the "Moulin Rouge" type, but in an alternative cultural space, an evening during which people come to the stage one afer the other to offer a short show, normally approx 5 min, either music, theatre, juggling, acrobacy, dancing, painting... it is kind of an open-mic night, or what we call a jam-session, but for more than music... do you know a word that would do the trick in English?

Thanks so much

Thanks! the Cabaret then does not have to be a specific place, as a night-club? Here, we can hae cabarets in squats, little theatres, on the street....
