In the context of door frames:

Les portes des locaux de travail sont composées d'un vantail en bois monté sur un cadre, faux-cadre en bois.

    cadre, faux-cadre?

a wooden door panel mounted on a wooden frame -

    what does the ",faux-cadre" mean?

    Thanks for any help!

I think what is mean here is the architrave around the door.

That is, the entirely ornamental (non-structural) surround about the door. details 018 (Small).jpg

This item is placed on the outer surface of the wall.
The door itself is hinged from the true frame, which is placed within the depth of
the wall cross-section and is invisible when the door is closed.
