    § Participation en qualité d’orateur à des « cafés – conseils » organisés par l’U.C.M. au cours de l’année 2002-2003.

I can't seem to find the translation for 'cafés – conseils '. The context is a lawyer's c.v.

    My try:
Took part in 'cafés – conseils ' organised by the U.C.M during the year 2002-2003 as a public speaker.

these are sessions organised around a cup (cups) of coffee
As I don't know what the UCM is, it's hard for me to say more.
but imagine some sort of meeting/conference between someone who addresses the crowd (the orator) and a crowd :)

But does a translation exist in English at all?

Somewhere between a coffee morning and a seminar. Perhaps a coffee seminar?

I have never heard of that expression. Can anyone confirm that ' coffee-seminar' is a widely used expression?

I don't think it is; I just made it up, but I think it would probably be understood.
