    Bonjour,

    J'utilise depuis toujours le terme anglais "register" pour parler des cahiers d'appel utilisés en classe. Un doute me saisit: est-ce bien le bon terme?

    Oui, c'est ça. "The register": pour enregistrer que quelqu'un soit présent/absent. Par contre, aux US, ils appellent ça "the roll call".

    We use a "cahier d'appel" in school to register students' presence/absence. Can I use the expression "registration book" to speak about the object?

    It's just the register. 'Can you take the register to the office, please?' Though schools are changing over to electronic registers now.

    Yes, I would call it a "roll call" or, in a university setting, the "class roster"...
