For example, John lost his ID and he is supposed to report the loss to his boss. However, he is unable to call for some reasons. His wife calls the office and the secretary answers. The secretary will write the ff:

a) Ana called in on behalf of husband . . .
b) Ana called in in behalf of husband . . .
c) Ana called in behalf of husband . . .
c) Ana called on behalf of husband . . .

I usually use structure C but am not sure if it is correct.

You will hear both a) and d) used. Either one is correct.
