Is "call in" the right verb for this sentence:

I've been called in to testify about a crime that I witnessed.

    Call in sounds to me like an informal request, probably an optional invitation. If you are asked to come to a court to testify, it isn't informal or optional - there are potentially severe penalties if you don't turn up!
