Hello.
What is differnece between call and reason or cause.
Ex.
1) I was just kidding. There was no call for you to get that angry.
2) What is the call of his absence?

Thank you in advance.

Sentence 1) is fine. Sentence 2) is wrong (you need 'cause of' or 'reason for' in this sentence).

'no call for' means no need of/no requirement for: Whatever I said, it didn't require such an angry response.
