Hi there,
can you help me?

Context: I was at a party and wanted one of my friends to take a picture of me with his kid. I asked the little boy: "can I take a picture with you?". Does that sound correct?

What about: "Can we have a picture taken by your dad?" Would this second question have been better?

I'd like to know what a native speaker would have said..

Thank you in advance.

"Can I take a picture with you?" would not be right, because you are not taking the picture, the person with the camera does that. His dad will take the picture.

I think it would be a bit odd to say "Can we have a picture taken by your dad?" although it makes sense, wouldn't it be more natural to ask the dad? What I might say is "Shall we ask you dad to take our picture?"
