Can I 'take part' in a soccer team?

    Good evening, which is the proper term to say (in my Curriculum Vitae) I played/was subscribed/was active in a soccer team.
    My attempt by now is: 'Took part in xxx local soccer team from YY to YY' (I omitted the subject on purpose, since it sounded more professional listed with other sentences);
    however it doesn't convince me that much.
    Thanks

    You play for a soccer team.

    You know what? It's not that bad.. it sounded too banal, but now it's a good option. Thanks

    It's not an option, it's the normal way of saying it in English. ;)

    You take part in a game. You join or, as Andy says, play for a team.
